Princess Eugine - Sluming it with protection
Princess Eugenie, the youngest daughter of Fergie and Prince Andrew, is set to start at Newcastle University of all places next month and is gearing up to wholeheartedly embrace student lifestyle. It is the perfect chance for her to cash in on various brands so closely associated with student life.
Eugenie will start her time at Newcastle on returning from a hedonistic a gap year bumming around the usual traveller hotspots – Goa, Australia and Cambodia – Eugenie will be “slumming it” with the rest of the freshers in student halls of residence.
The rent for a room is a mere £96-a-week, and for that the princess will get her own small en suite room in a flat with four others – three fellow students and her bodyguard (how weird is that? Will she be taking him on her nights out to the Bigg Market?).
Eugenie’s older sister Beatrice snubbed halls at London’s Goldsmith’s in favour of an apartment in St James’ Palace, a far cry from the box her little sister will be living in at the slight less grand Newcastle.
One must wonder just how much further Eugenie plans to take her student experience. Will she be scoffing Super Noodles, Heinz Baked Beanz and downing £1-a-pint snakebites and making good use of her 10% discount in Topshop? Not to mention her young person’s rail card better know to the likes of other royals as my free train/helicopter/plane.
Celebrity Sell Out smells a perfect opportunity for marketers to take advantage of this “down with the common folk” Royal.
If we’re going to abuse stereotypes here, perhaps the staple diet of all good tax dodgers could jump in. Following on from Doner Kebab and Bombay Badboy, we’re thinking Princess flavour Pot Noodle – caviar and champers mingling with cider and two-day -old cold pizza?
