Geordie girl Jayne Middlemiss
We have to say congratulations to everyone’s favourite Geordie TV presenter Jayne Middlemiss (after Donna Air, Cheryl Cole and Ant & Dec) who after a few tears won ’Celebrity Masterchef’ on Friday (her second reality TV victory).
We’re sure that a cooking programme and various food endorsements are now in order.
We’re just hoping she does better this time around after she did following her 2005 victory on ‘Celebrity Love Island’.
Surely you remember that? Jayne Middlemiss and nightclub owner Fran Cosgrave scooped the £100,000 prize. Not before a few tears over former Manchester United footballer Lee Sharpe who went off with Abi Titmuss.
She then went onto front a Living TV show (’Family Forensics’)…which got axed after just one episode when producers discovered one of its stars was convicted of a crime involving a child.
This time around we have better hopes after Jayne Middlemiss brushed aside competition from athlete Iwan Thomas and actor Wendi Peters.
As Jayne says herself: “I hope this is just the start of my culinary journey.”
We hope so too. We’d rather watch Jayne cook than errrm Nigella Lawson who only wants to make us fat. And we’re against this.
‘Celebrity Masterchef’ Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace called her a natural cook with a “complete understanding of modern food”.
This wasn’t any of your sitting around in a bathing suit and waiting to pull this was really hard work. The final saw Jayne and rivals truly tested as they were asked to produce exquisite fine dining using only open fires and clay ovens at Richard Branson’s hotel in the Moroccan mountains; cook for 90 crew members of hit BBC One drama ‘Ashes To Ashes’: and prepare a meal for Michelin-starred chefs including Michel Roux Jr.
Her winning menu saw the Geordie serve up a starter of Seared Scallops on Apple Puree with Ground Walnut Sauce and Fresh Herbs, a main course of Pan Fried Veal on a Bed of Baby Red Chard with Truffle Potatoes and a Veal Jus, and a dessert of Lavender Panacotta with Crystallised Violets.
Okay personally we’re with Sarah Brown and would pass on the veal, but Jayne is one of the girls and our new favourite telly cook. Sell out with pride.

I’d watch cook with Jayne no doubt about it. Show me where to sign up. Although soft focus on Nigella is making me dizzy.
