It’s a good gig if you can get it.  Actress Scarlett Johansson has been signed as the face of Moet & Chandon, the champagne firm that has half the world pronouncing its name incorrectly (pronounced [moɛt‿e ʃɑ̃ˈdɔ̃]).

Scarlett Johansson has already posed for a couple of sultry promotional shots, where she can be seen laying by the pool kicking her heels up in one and draped in a silk gown leaning back on an upholstered chair showing off a bit of leg in another. And yes there’s this one above.

The ‘Lost in Translation’ star said she felt “honoured” to be chosen by Moet, who were equally pleased that she decided to except their offer. (I’d be honoured if you gave me a decent supply of free champagne, so feel free and my honour is yours.)

Frederic Cumenal, Moet president, said: “Scarlett was the obvious choice. She’s refreshing, spontaneous and glamorous.”

Who doesn’t love a refreshing star? The 24-year-old’s celebrity status has risen to meteoric heights since she found fame back in 1998 with ‘The Horse Whisperer’ when she starred alongside Robert Redford and Kirstin Scott Thomas.

Scarlett Johansson received widespread attention for her performance in ‘Ghost World’ in 2001 and went on to earn herself two Golden Globe nominations in 2003 for ‘Lost in Translation’ and ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’.

But refreshing or not, she has been in some stinkers. Remember ‘The Island’ with Ewan Macgregor? Woody Allen’s ‘Match Point’? And while ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ was good, Scarlett Johansson was outshined by Penélope Cruz and and Rebecca Hall. And let’s forget all about teen “comedy” film ‘The Perfect Score’ .

Duds aside, this is not the first time that Johansson has starred in an ad campaign for Moet’s French holding company, LVMH.

She featured in a Louis Vuitton ad campaign for its spring range in 2007 and in 2004, worked on a Marc Jacobs’ photo shoot.

Scarlett has also had deals with other big name brands such as Reebok, Calvin Klein and L’Oreal, to name a few. Like I said, it’ s a good gig if you can get it, only try to keep it in the bottle Scarlett.
