Sean Connery: he's still got it
If you happened to be watching the TV in China last week, as you do, then you might have come across one of the very best sex drug endorsement ads you’re likely to see. Sean Connery, tax exile, Scottish nationalist and second best James Bond, was on and being featured in an ad campaign for “USA Selikon”. But if you think it sounds like a magazine then read on because this is what Mr Connery himself had to say about the product.
He says: “I turned 70 this year. But with the help of USA Selikon capsules, I was praised by Barbara that I’m still James Bond, forever 25. I have told all my aged friends, ‘You should try USA Selikon capsules’.” Yes it turns out USA Selikon is actually some form of cheapo Viagra for old folks. The man who was rumoured to have turned down 15% of the profits to appear as Gandalf in ‘Lord of the Rings’, only to appear in the disaster zone that was ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ months later, has certainly picked a winning role this time.

It's alright sweetheart I've got the USA Selikon
But before you get out the tartan bunting and pat Sean on the back, it turns out Connery didn’t do the ads after all. It was in fact those cheeky boys at USA Selikon who, taking time away from pill making, found some old footage of Sean yapping and dubbed the endorsement over the top. They even got his age wrong. Still it’s a great idea and if it wasn’t for the bit about getting caught, much more economical. What could be next? There’s rumoured to be an ad in the pipeline with Gordon Ramsay selling those fake eggs.
The Chinese clearly love our celebs when it comes to selling sex boosting anti impotency products. It was only a week or so ago that David Beckham sent the lawyers in.
