Justin: dial 901

Not content with a clothing line, restaurants and his own music label ‘SexyBack’ singer Justin Timberlake is launching his own brand of tequila (it makes him happy).

The drink will be called 901, not only because it is the telephone area code for JT’s hometown Memphis but also because “901 is that time of night when your evening is ending but your night is just beginning” according to his spokesman. Seems a pretty precise time to start your night but I guess he has a tight schedule.

901tequila901 will be available in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and St Louis from May so you’ll need to go stateside if you want a taste of it.

The former Nsync star’s other spinoffs include the William Rast clothing line, which he launched with a childhood friend, and the restaurants Destino and Southern Hospitality.

He has also appeared in ads for Pepsi, following in the footsteps of his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears, and sang the ‘I’m Lovin’ It’ jingle for McDonald’s.

The Pepsi campaign, which broke during the Superbowl last year, featured Justin involved in a number of stunts, narrowly escaping disaster. Presumably he won’t be performing dangerous stunts in his 901 ads or it could be a case of one tequila, two tequila, three tequila … floor. (sorry, couldn’t resist)

  • Any man who had the guts to get Janet Jackson’s boobs out on national TV deserves all our support. I for one will be buying his new product.
