Things seem to be going from bad to worse for foul-mouthed celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Only months after the national press sprawled his alleged affair with Sarah Symonds across their pages, the News of the World has revealed that Ramsay lied about his past as a professional footballer.
Ramsay boasted that he had played professional football matches during the brief period he spent training with Glasgow Rangers in interviews to drum up publicity for his first restaurant Aubergine in 1994.
He has since repeated his boasts in a series of interviews but it has now emerged that he was only a triallist, who trained with them for a few months but then got injured.
Ramsay has been forced to admit that he has been telling some porkie pies, confessing that his memories may be "hazy".
Well what else could he do when former players and Rangers historian Robert McElroy, who has watched every competitive game the club has played since 1972, said it was "complete and utter nonsense". Oh the shame.
