Girls Aloud are arguably pop's most marketable group, aka biggest sellouts, having endorsed a whole host of products including Nintendo, KitKat Senses, Sunsilk, Samsung and Ultimo lingerie, to name a few. So why is it that just two months before the start of their nationwide Out of Control tour, the band have failed to secure sponsorship for the event? Could it be that the girls have been credit crunched?
Girls Aloud -- Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh (as if the names aren't already ingrained on your brain) -- reportedly need to secure a sum close to £300,000.
Some of the high street's biggest names have been approached and the girls are reported to be in talks with two companies in particular that they are optimistic about securing.
Rumours of a frenzied bidding war between Poundland and the 99p Store are probably wide of the mark. But the idea of Topshop magnate Sir Philip Green waving his wad at our heroines isn't so outlandish.
